Her commitment to the Veteran Organization, National Association for Black Veterans (NABVETS) is exemplary, and she serves as a volunteer.  In August 2022, she was elected as the National Commander for NABVETS, making her the first female to hold the position.

She has also chaired organizations in Cultural Diversity, Ethnic Resources, and Pluralism Councils. Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Commander Worthy is a devoted Baptist and a member of West Valley Church in Hillsboro, OR.  She serves as the Executive Vice President on the board of Saving Grace Maternity Home and has also served on the Executive Board of PassinArt Theater Company.
